Snickers

Mixed Breed · Male

Many of the animals that come to us are found outside with no known owner. What Snickers has experienced before coming to us, we do not know – but there is no doubt that his life has been tough. Snickers is neutered, but still has a clear, territorial behavior and guards what he perceives as his own. We believe that Snickers can develop positively if he lives with one calm female companion, and with people who have the time, patience, and desire to spend some time with him. Sometimes Snickers forgets that he needs to take care of himself and his things, as he tends to forget that he loves to be brushed and combed. Clipping his claws also goes without major problems. These moments make us convinced that there is a home where Snickers can truly thrive, and maybe he will eventually shed his territorial behavior? It is important for us to be honest: Snickers is very territorial today. He is generally clean, but can mark something if he gets new neighbors/guests at the foster home where he lives. For this reason, he should live outside in an environment where he can have his own space with minimal disturbances, and preferably with a female companion. Snickers lives outside today and thrives by sitting on his dry bed and looking out the window. Snickers should not live in a home with children. This is to ensure his well-being and safety, as well as to avoid stress or unwanted situations.

About Snickers

What life with Snickers looks like

Snickers is a large adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

Note from the shelter: Highly territorial behavior, needs outdoor housing with minimal disturbances, requires patient and experienced owner

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snickers, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snickers?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snickers on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snickers if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snickers already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snickers isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snickers and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
