Snoopy

Mixed Breed · Male

If you are a small dog who has only opened your eyes a few weeks ago, you actually belong to only one place in the world - the belly of a loving mother. Pete, Snoopy, and Panda should be there right now, because they are at most eight weeks old (as of 04/2022) - and have already spent two of those weeks with their foster parents - but a particularly heartless person decided that the three sweet little pups had to be thrown into a trash container. They probably came from an unwanted litter, were left with their mother so she wouldn't get mastitis, and as soon as they were able to eat solid food, they were cruelly disposed of. Death in a trash container can take days. Some dogs die from extreme heat, because even in winter, the sun heats up the usually black containers to sauna temperatures. Many of them die of thirst - and if the garbage is collected before death finds the little ones on its own, the garbage press finishes them off. The fact that our three new arrivals were found is thanks to the growing number of attentive people, especially young people, in Andalusia, who follow every sound, open every suspicious box, and above all fight with all their might for better animal protection laws. The girl who freed our trio from this precarious situation is a real heroine and hope for the coming years. Moreover, she knew what to do and asked an experienced animal welfare worker for help. Since the little princes are still too young to stay in an animal shelter, Panda, Pete, and Snoopy have moved into a loving and experienced foster home, where the brothers patiently wait for their "GO" to move to their final families. Each of these cute little bundles of fur conquers the world with age-appropriate curiosity and courage, and sees it as a fantastic adventure playground. While Snoopy and Panda fight against big monsters like shoes, furniture, and bare feet with brute force and all their physical abilities, Pete is a bit more reserved. That could simply be his character, or maybe he is the brains of the otherwise daredevil gang. Because we don't know exactly when the fun trio was born (the brothers aren't in the teething stage, so guessing is somewhat easier) and the parents are unknown, Pete, Snoopy, and Panda fall into the large category of "surprise eggs." For us, this means we can't accurately say how big and heavy the sweet little pups will become, but they will definitely be bigger than a Chihuahua and smaller than a Bernese Mountain Dog (local animal welfare workers say that a large part of the mix is Terrier - so we're expecting them to grow up to knee height). Generally, the rule is: "The mixed-breed puppy stops growing when it's done." They are just as excited as we are to find out what beauties will come from these three Andalusian stray children? The best way to find out is to offer Pete, Panda, or Snoopy a wonderful home, where they can begin an amazing, healthy, and long life as the best friend of their adopted two-legged human!

DE·Show original

About Snoopy

What life with Snoopy looks like

Snoopy is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snoopy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snoopy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snoopy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snoopy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snoopy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snoopy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snoopy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
