adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Solo has found his people! His story: Baia Mara, Romania. At the public shelter in Baia Mare, a colorful litter of puppies – Rasselbande – is waiting to leave Romania as quickly as possible to begin a new, better life. The four beautiful Windhound mix puppies, Solo, Linnea, Anemoi, and Viola, live together with their brave mother, Dalia, and they all urgently need support as they start a new life, for they have not experienced much that is good so far. The story of the little dog family is horrific and incredible at the same time. The pregnant Dalia was found completely exhausted and bound with wire in a bush. Someone had likely left her there to die. Fortunately, the female dog was saved and quickly brought to a nearby shelter. There, she immediately gave birth to her four puppies – all healthy and lively. The four little puppies were brave and determined to survive, and they did. Now, at about 2.5 months old, they are desperately searching for loving people who will care for and love them, and treat them with respect. The handsome Solo is exactly like his siblings, a little fighter, otherwise he wouldn't have grown into such a lively, healthy puppy despite everything. He is friendly and open-minded and a typical playful, little male dog. He loves playing with his siblings. Solo has short, raven-black fur, four white paws, and a white chest. From dark round eyes, he looks hopefully into his future. Solo is delicate and elegant built and is expected to reach a medium to large size. Of course, the little puppy will quickly settle into his new home, although he naturally has no experience with life as a house dog and knows little about house training and leash manners. But Solo is a very lively little male dog who is always eager to please people. With lots of love, understanding, and positive reinforcement, he will learn the entire puppy 1×1 class quickly. After the adjustment period, Solo will be happy to visit a positively working dog training class. In a few months, Solo will enter puberty, which will bring everything he has learned so far into chaos. Rules will be questioned, and new boundaries will be tested. But with a loving and consistent upbringing by his adopters, the little puppy will emerge from this phase as a well-mannered and confident young male dog, faithfully and reliably accompanying his family in all activities. We now wish for loving people who will take Solo in with love and patience, offering him a family connection, a warm dog bed, beautiful walks, and – crucial for a puppy – plenty of contact with fellow animals. We would also be very happy about a foster home for the little puppy. Have you fallen in love with the little, sweet Solo? Then contact us. You must, however, keep in mind that Solo is a Windhound mix. While Windhounds are usually very cuddly, affectionate, and balanced companions, they need a lot of exercise and regular off-leash time, and they often display a significant prey drive. Therefore, solo owners should be active and sporty and have the desire to physically and mentally challenge him adequately. Our thanks go to the namesake Leidi D., who gave the little Solo his name!. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

About Solo

What life with Solo looks like

Solo is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Solo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Solo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Solo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Solo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Solo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Solo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Solo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
