Test for Mediterranean Diseases: Ehrlichiosis Positive Hello, I’m Sophie—and maybe I’m exactly looking for you! 🐾 I’m a young Breton female dog, born on January 1, 2024, and I weigh about 12 kg—so I’m manageable, sporty, and just the right mix of active and cuddly. Unfortunately, my story didn’t start off particularly happily: I was found alone on the street. But I’ve refused to let anyone take away my joy of life! I’m a cheerful girl who loves people and wants to enjoy life to the fullest. My foster team describes me as very social, friendly, and incredibly likeable. I approach people openly and love attention, petting, and shared adventures. I get along great with other dogs—both males and females—and I also really enjoy being around children. As for cats? Unfortunately, I don’t know yet, but I’m open to making new friends. In everyday life, I prove to be a pleasant companion: walking on a leash? I’m really good at that. My energy level? Medium to high. I love being active, need plenty of exercise, and look forward to walks, sniffing sessions, and fun activities. In June 2026, I tested positive for ehrlichiosis—a tick-borne infectious disease—and am currently undergoing appropriate treatment. What do I wish for? A home with people who are excited to welcome a smart, active, and loving companion. People who can give me security, explore the world together with me, and show me how wonderful having my own cozy little spot can be. When I arrive, I’ll be vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and will have my EU pet passport with me. Maybe you’re exactly the person I’ve been waiting for?

Was ich mir wünsche?

About Sophie

What life with Sophie looks like

Sophie is a medium-sized young adult brittany spaniel dog waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sophie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sophie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sophie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sophie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sophie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sophie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sophie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
