Stela

Mixed Breed · Female

Description Our animal welfare workers report: During their daily route to feed the street dogs at certain collection points, Paula, our on-site animal rescuer, discovered two female dogs by the field edge right next to a woods in Targu Jiu. It turned out they were mother and daughter. This place is popular with people who want to get rid of their dogs without being seen. Stela was stuck in a hole, which was obviously dug for her, and was struggling to breathe when Paula rescued her. Stela and her daughter Luna2 were severely emaciated and only overcame their fear of Paula long enough to approach the offered food. This way, Paula was able to catch the two female dogs and take them to her small shelter, where they were medically and hygienically cared for and fattened up. Finally, they were in human care, protected, and safe. Despite all these horrors, Stela quickly gained trust in Paula and showed what a gentle soul she has inside. Now she enjoys the company of people and is diligently spreading kisses. She is playful and social with fellow animals, whether male dogs or female dogs, and also shows a friendly and attentive demeanor towards cats. Stela is an active female dog who would like to accompany her people everywhere and share adventures with them. She wishes for active people who will meet her with love and patience and appreciate her cuddle attacks. Who would like to give the lovable Stela a warm dog bed, a filled bowl, and the closeness and care she so desires? Who will make this little doggy heart happy? Please note:

About Stela

What life with Stela looks like

Stela is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stela, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stela?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stela on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stela if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Stela already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stela isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stela and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
