Adopt Steven

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Breed: Mix. Gender: Male. Date of birth: August 2024. Height: 43 cm. Weight: 11 kgIn a shelter from: September 2024 Family in the shelter: Sister: Dottie; Brother: Brendon; Steven and his family – Brendon and Dottie – were taken into our shelter in September 2024, after we found them at a local riverside picnic area. Sadly, these kinds of places, mostly visited on weekends, are often used as dumping grounds for unwanted dogs. They were skinny, weak, and in poor condition. A veterinary examination confirmed they had parvovirus, so emergency treatment was necessary. After several weeks of care, they finally recovered and were able to socialize with other dogs. Unfortunately, spending a long time in a clinic and receiving daily IV therapy can negatively affect dogs, often causing them to lose trust in people. Over time, we managed to rebuild that trust. While they’re still a bit shy, they have come a long way. Experienced families would be the best fit for them, as they can offer the understanding and patience these dogs need to fully thrive.

About Steven

What life with Steven looks like

Steven is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Rescue Bosnia in Bosnia.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Steven, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Steven?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Rescue Bosnia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Steven on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Steven if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Rescue Bosnia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Steven already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Steven isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Rescue Bosnia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Steven and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
