Sunny

Mixed Breed · Male

Sunny is an exceptionally loving young male dog who, despite his difficult past, has not lost his zest for life. Little is known about his history. He was taken in by a shelter where his front leg had to be amputated. Since then, he has mastered his life as a handicap dog with impressive strength. Sunny is familiar with indoor living, is house trained and behaves very pleasantly in everyday life. He loves the company of his humans, enjoys petting and appreciates all attention he receives. He gets along well with other dogs. Both large and small dogs are no problem for him, especially he likes to play with female dogs. However, he prefers less dominant males. It is currently unknown whether he knows cats or children. Sunny shows when a break is needed during playtime. He does not overdo himself and rests as soon as he gets tired. With his handicap, he copes well and enjoys life at his own pace. Sunny is a wonderful dog with a huge heart. Now all he needs is a family that loves him for who he is and shows him that the hard times are finally over. 🐾 Special preferences: • Very people-oriented and affectionate • Loves attention and closeness • Social with other dogs • Plays especially well with female dogs • House trained and familiar with indoor living • Calm and balanced in everyday life • Determines his own pace • Brave and cheerful little fighter 💌 How you can help: ❣️ Adopt ❣️ Offer foster care ❣️ Share - so that SUNNY finally finds his family 🐾💙 Videos: Sunny with other dogs

About Sunny

What life with Sunny looks like

Sunny is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hund sucht Hütte in Austria.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sunny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sunny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hund sucht Hütte handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sunny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sunny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hund sucht Hütte will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sunny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sunny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hund sucht Hütte early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sunny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
