Sunny – Gemütlichkeit kennt keinen Feierabend! → Breed: mixed breed→ Gender: male→ Born: 2017 → Size / Weight: 48 cm / 28 kg→ Neutered: yes→ Vaccinated: yes→ Identification: Chip→ Compatible with: male dogs and female dogs→ Incompatible with: unknown→ Sponsorships possible: yesDescription: Sometimes life writes the most beautiful stories – and Sunny is the best proof of that. His name is program: "Sunny" means sunshine, and that's exactly how it feels when you meet this medium-sized, slightly round-hearted hound. He's a real mood-lifter – or better said: a "kiss-ball" on four legs that you simply can't help but love. Sunny is in the best age and brings everything you could wish for in a companion: balance, gentleness, and a portion of cozy charm. His life motto? Clear and simple: try it with Gemütlichkeit. Hectic is not his thing – he looks for people who want to approach life as relaxed as he does. His story is almost movie-ready: Sunny was famous in his city like a colorful dog – as a street dog who one day decided it was time for a better life. And so he marched straight to our shelter, where he unfortunately initially didn't get a place. But Sunny wouldn't be Sunny if he had just given up. For two weeks, he came every day, patiently sat in front of the fence, and waited. Until finally, a place became free – and he was allowed to move in.

About Sunny

What life with Sunny looks like

Sunny is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sunny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sunny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sunny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sunny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sunny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sunny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sunny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
