Sunny

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 13 years

Please help Sunny by sharing this page! Fluffy, soppy Sunny is a Fox Terrier X Jack Russell Terrier of 13 years, in the care of Rescue Remedies based near Gatwick on the Surrey/West Sussex border. He spends some time in respite foster care nearby so he can really relax. Sunny is an affectionate boy who loves some lap time. He wants to be the only pet in an adult only home, getting all available fuss! Sunny has blossomed in foster care. He used to be very reactive with passing dogs and traffic. He used to worry at his lead a lot, too. With reassurance and many strategically timed pieces of sausage from his carer, he has massively improved and he really enjoys his walks now. Sunny is good in the car and impeccably well behaved in the home. He takes treats gently and doesn't pester when his human is eating. He's nervous about having things done to him and wears a muzzle at the vets to be on the safe side. His coat does require regular trimming, as do his claws and this has been done under sedation before, bless him! He does feel better for it though. Sunny had lived with his family for 11 years, from puppyhood but they emigrated and were unable to take him with them. He finds it confusing when he has to go back into kennels and is always overjoyed to be back in foster care. Having his own, permanent home and one or two people to call his own will make Sunny a very happy boy! If you might be the kind, patient person for Sunny, please contact Rescue Remedies as follows: You’ll find their foster form and information HERE. Or, if you’re thinking of adopting, read about the Rescue Remedies rehoming process here… …then fill in their homing questionnaire here. Please say you saw Sunny on the Oldies Club website. This replaces Sunny's previous page dated 1 December 2024.

About Sunny

What life with Sunny looks like

Sunny is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sunny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sunny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sunny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sunny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sunny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sunny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sunny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
