Sushi

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

In the animal shelter since: October 2026 Estimated age: born approx. July 2026 Estimated adult shoulder height: approx. 40 – 59 cm Estimated adult weight: 20 – 35 kg Earliest departure: 14.11. Meet Sushi right here in the video! Puppy Sushi was abandoned – will you give her love? Sushi was found all alone in a kill shelter and taken in by the animal shelter. For more information on how dogs come to the shelter and answers to general questions, see our animal welfare FAQ. Sushi is still very new to the shelter. Her character will continue to develop over the coming weeks and months – at this point only the beginnings are visible. If you would like more information about this furry friend, feel free to write to our placement team. If nothing applies to this furry friend, please delete the entire container. We suspect that HUNDENAME has a Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD) mix in them. Please inform yourself here about the requirements for adopting a Livestock Guardian Dog. LGD mixes are often very independent and need confident, consistent leadership. HUNDENAME has a cropped ear / two cropped ears / a cropped tail. Many dogs in Romania have these cut off to make the animals look more dangerous. HUNDENAME has a short tail. It is unclear whether his/her tail is cropped or naturally short. HUNDENAME is currently underweight. On the street or in kill shelters, animals usually receive too little food or none at all, so they become severely emaciated. In the shelter, however, our furry friend is being given more food again and will hopefully soon return to a normal weight. HUNDENAME was ill with parvovirus. Luckily, the little one survived the virus. Our placement team knows best about the exact state of health. If you have any further questions, feel free to send us a message. MANDATORY for medical findings (please delete) Our placement team knows best about the exact state of health. If you have any further questions, feel free to send us a message. Puppies should not have to grow up in a shelter. That is why we urgently seek a loving home or an experienced foster placement for this little furry friend – a place where she can discover the world, build trust, and simply be a puppy. Anyone adopting a puppy should be aware of how demanding everyday life with a young dog can be: as soon as house-training is accomplished, the "wild adolescence" often begins – full of energy, uncertainties, and new challenges. The first years of life are an exciting journey that humans and dog walk together – with highs, lows, and plenty of learning moments. For this furry friend we wish for people with patience, empathy, and perseverance – and with an understanding that shelter dogs often already bring some history with them. How exactly they will react to their new life in Germany can never be fully predicted. But one thing is certain: those who adopt rather than buy not only give an animal a second chance, but actively choose against animal suffering – and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are considering adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered before departure (exceptions are puppies under 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are additionally tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, feel free to write to our placement team.

About Sushi

What life with Sushi looks like

Sushi is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sushi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sushi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sushi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sushi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sushi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sushi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sushi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
