Susie

Female Β· Adult Β· 6 years

Susie is looking for a family to be around for most of the time to build her leaving hours up at first, but could be left for a few hours once settled. She is house-trained and walks well on the lead, looking for an active home that can take her on fun walks followed by a cwtch on the sofa. Susie loves to be cosy, so would like lots of blankets and comfy beds to snuggle up in. She loves her food and her toys, and will be a wonderful addition to the home! Meet Susie, a beautiful 6.5-year old Dachshund looking for her forever home! Susie could live with another calm dog, pending a successful meet here in the centre. Susie would also prefer for all children to be of older primary school age, as she is a very sweet girl but can be a bit shy at first. Susie craves attention and loves a fuss from her people, enjoying a cuddle on the sofa. Susie is good with calmer, quieter dogs as boisterous dogs can be a bit overwhelming for her! Susie would prefer a quieter home, where she can enjoy a snooze on the sofa followed by a lovely walk with her people. She loves to get her sniffs in, and walks well on the lead. Susie can be a bit spooked by louder noises, but is reassured by her family. We can't wait to see this gorgeous girl in her forever home!

About Susie

What life with Susie looks like

Susie is an adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Susie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Susie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Susie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Susie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Susie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Susie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Susie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
