Swift

Greyhound Β· Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

Meet Swift, racing name Swift Arson, who is just 2 1/2 years old (DOB 09/01/2024). Swift ended his racing career with an injury which he is now fully recovered from (full details can be given to anyone who enquires about him). He is a stunning blue brindle , a tall elegant hound, he's sure to stand out in a crowd. Swift is a slightly reserved boy, a little nervous when you first meet him but he soon comes round and then enjoys a fuss. He walks nicely on the lead and enjoys his walks but sometimes needs encouragement to get in the car. He would suit a quiet home possibly with another greyhound to show him the ropes. He is happy to be left for short periods as he loves his bed, this might change once he latches on to someone so he might be better with someone around most of the time or willing to build up the time he is left. He will need a secure garden to play in possibly one that isn't too over looked. Although he seems fine with older children we don't think he'd enjoy a noisy household with a lot going on and would need a space of his own to escape to if he was overwhelmed. He is a lovely boy once you get to know him and he enjoys a run in the paddock. So far he's been fine around other breeds of dog although he can be a little excited if they are running around off lead in front of him. He is not cat friendly and loves to chase squirrels! I am sure in the right home and with a bit of patience Swift will blossom into a lovely pet for some lucky person or family. He just needs a bit of time to settle and lots of love. If you would like to know more about him or to meet him please contact us.

About Swift

What life with Swift looks like

Swift is a young adult greyhound dog waiting at Greyhound Trust Shropshire and Borders in United Kingdom.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Swift, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Swift?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Greyhound Trust Shropshire and Borders handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Swift on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Swift if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Greyhound Trust Shropshire and Borders will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Swift already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Swift isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Greyhound Trust Shropshire and Borders early rather than rehoming privately; they know Swift and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
