Szikra

Mixed Breed · Male

Szikra is a neutered male born in 2019, who came to us in terrible condition despite his young age. We asked the animal rescuers near Aggtelek for help. When he arrived, it was impossible to socialize him with other dogs, his coat had large patches missing, and he didn't look very promising. However, fortunately, his golden coat has now grown back beautifully everywhere thanks to treatment and the healing power of time. The dog's aggression towards other dogs has lessened during his stay here, although he still likes to be the boss and no longer shows off his strength unnecessarily. Szikra is kind towards people and requires walks and activity. It's okay with him if it's in the shade during hot weather and not too long. If it does happen, he will immediately settle down in the first available shady spot, lie down, and only be willing to continue the walk after several minutes, no matter how close the destination is. Like the young puppies, he also has a bit of mischief, and he wants to explore and get to know the world in his funny, cheerful way. We are looking for a owner who can consistently guide this young boy in life. If you feel that you would be this person, please contact us at the phone number.

A fiatal kutyusok hebrencsségével Ő is rendelkezik, a maga bohókás, vidám módján szeretné felfedezni, megismerni a világot. Olyan gazdit keresünk Neki, aki határozottan és következetesen tudja terelni ezt a fiatal fiúcskát az életben. Ha úgy érzed, hogy ez Te lennél, akkor keress minket a es telefonszámon.

About Szikra

What life with Szikra looks like

Szikra is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Luca Kutyamenedék in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szikra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szikra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Luca Kutyamenedék handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szikra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szikra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Luca Kutyamenedék will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szikra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szikra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Luca Kutyamenedék early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szikra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
