Minx

Mixed Breed Β· Female Β· Senior Β· 14 years

Minx could live with children aged 10+. She could potentially live with other cats and will require outdoor access. Minx is a wonderful lady who is a pleasure to spend time with! She is a confident and friendly girl – nobody is a stranger to Minx! Despite being 14 years old, she still thinks she’s a kitten – she loves playing with her toys, exploring her environment and having zoomies! She is a super affectionate girl who will paw at you for attention, she’s also a very vocal lady who will chat away to you and isn’t shy about asking for food or a fuss! Minx has spent quite a lot of time in a foster home where her foster carers described her as their shadow – she loves to be with her humans 24/7! They said that she would run to the door to greet them when she heard them come home and would often fall asleep in their arms, purring away. She also liked to sleep in their bed with them. Her foster carers also reported that Minx had a mischievous side and would try and open cupboards looking for treats and, if she did manage to get hold of a treat bag, they didn’t last long! Minx is an incredible girl to be around and really doesn’t act her age at all. We have very little background information on Minx’s life prior to her arrival at the shelter, but we do know she has lived with several other cats previously and so we feel she could potentially live with other cats again. She would be best suited to a family who are around a lot of the time to keep her company as she thrives off spending time with her humans and likes to be with them as much as possible. A family with some knowledge of the Savannah breed would be beneficial, although not essential – we feel she would adapt well to most homes. Minx very sadly has been with us for almost a year – since December 2025 – due to some ongoing health issues, making her our longest-term resident currently. She is now finally ready to find her forever home and we would love to see her with her forever family before she has to spend another Christmas in the shelter. This beautiful girl more than deserves to find her family who can spoil her rotten, she has so much love to give and we have absolutely no doubt she will make the most incredible addition to her lucky forever home. Minx has had treatment for several health issues whilst in our care including an ear infection, soft stools, overgrooming and urinary issues (suspected to be stress cystitis). Whilst most are now resolved, she is still receiving ongoing medication for the stress cystitis. Any potential rehomers should be aware that these issues are likely to be classed as pre-existing conditions and won’t be covered by pet insurance. The rehoming team will discuss Minx’s veterinary history in further detail with any successful applicants.

About Minx

What life with Minx looks like

Minx is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues β€” keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Minx, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Minx?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Minx on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Minx if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Minx already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Minx isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Minx and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
