Tally

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 7 years

Tally is looking for a quiet home who can give her the attention she loves. Any children in the home would need to be older and understand she can be worried by loud voices. She needs to be the only dog in the home. She knows a lot of tricks and is a very clever girl so a family that wants to continue her training would be great. She travels well in the car and is good in the vets. Tally is a lovely 7-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is looking for her forever home, where she can continue to be spoiled and enjoy plenty of adventures. She absolutely loves getting out and about, especially exploring the Lake District, and is at her happiest surrounded by the peace and quiet of the countryside. Tally is sensitive to loud noises, including raised voices, so she would thrive in a quiet, calm and predictable home where she can feel safe and settled. A peaceful location away from crowds and lots of noise would be ideal for her. Her perfect family will be someone who can give her the love, patience and security she knows and deserves, while continuing to enjoy all the adventures she loves. Tally is on the Dogs Trust Home Stay Scheme and will remain in her home until her adoption meet day. She is looking for a family who will take her for nice long walks and who doesn’t mind if she destroys a toy or two! Tally loves playing with toys, she will destroy soft toys and beds but loves a tennis ball or something harder to chew on. She is used to being left so once settled she can be left for a few hours.

About Tally

What life with Tally looks like

Tally is a adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cumbria in Cumbria.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tally, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tally?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cumbria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tally on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tally if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cumbria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tally already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tally isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cumbria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tally and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
