adoption requirements adoption process Inquire about this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Inquire about this dog now! Sometimes, a single glance says more than a thousand words. Anyone who looks into Tamara’s brown eyes immediately recognizes her sensitive and intelligent soul. The beautiful female dog with fox-brown fur was already blessed with good fortune when she was rescued together with her sister Looki from the public shelter Zalau. Now, safe in our private shelter, she waits for her true story to finally begin. Standing about 50 cm tall and weighing 17 kg, Tamara has a rather delicate appearance. Yet within this compact body resides an alert mind. It’s quite possible that she carries some herding-dog heritage, as Tamara is not one to recklessly plunge into chaos. She prefers to observe from a distance first, weigh her options, and then consciously choose her human. Once she senses someone means her well, she sheds her reserve, actively seeks contact, and thoroughly enjoys every bit of affection. In the outdoor run, she proves herself a calming presence, preferring to stay close to “her” people rather than lose herself in wild play with others. Life inside four walls is likely still a great mystery to Tamara. Therefore, we’re looking for people eager to patiently show her the world. Since Tamara is probably still in the midst of adolescence, she brings along that typical mix of youthful curiosity and occasional uncertainty. She already accepts the leash very well and is bravely taking her first steps on it. With loving yet confident guidance, she’ll successfully navigate these awkward teenage years and grow into a wonderful companion. Tamara gets along very well with fellow animals at the shelter; a cat test has not yet been conducted. We hope to find empathetic, dog-experienced people for Tamara—individuals who can read her subtle signals and confidently guide her through this crucial developmental phase. Dog training classes could be a wonderful support to help you grow into a strong team. Tamara is like a delicate plant that has so far grown in the shade; she now only needs a sunny spot and the right care to fully blossom. Tamara will travel neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas, accompanied by her EU pet passport. Following a positive home check, adoption can proceed. A foster home would also be a wonderful stepping stone for her. We sincerely thank Sunny W. for taking on the name sponsorship. You’ve given Tamara her very own identity and hope. As of: 05.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 12.05.2026

About Tamara

What life with Tamara looks like

Tamara is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tamara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tamara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tamara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tamara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tamara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tamara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tamara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
