Tanja

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 4 months

Meet Tanja, a sweet 1.5-year-old girl. Tanja came to us with a litter of kittens. Despite being almost a kitten herself, she was a fantastic mother. Caring, loving, and protective. Tanja's kittens had everything they needed. It was clear that the six hungry kitten mouths were literally and figuratively draining her. What a skinny Tanja was when she came to us... and how hungry she was! Now the kittens have flown off to their own places and it's time to put Tanja first. We've come to know Tanja as an incredibly sweet cat, she's very present, loves to play, is always with her nose forward to discover new things and still has a huge love for tasty treats. She can enjoy attention and a cuddle intensely, but we notice she doesn't have much time for it now. There's a lot to discover and play, but it's expected that she will come to her owner for some attention and also love to snuggle up on her lap when she's done playing. Tanja is a lady with spirit, she knows what she wants and when she wants it and can communicate this well. All in all a great character, with Tanja in the house life is a party. In the future, Tanja would love to be in a safe environment outside. Very young children will probably be too unpredictable for her, but children from about 10 years old she will love.

About Tanja

What life with Tanja looks like

Tanja is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Kat in Nood in Netherlands.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tanja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tanja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kat in Nood handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tanja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tanja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kat in Nood will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tanja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tanja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kat in Nood early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tanja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
