Adopt Tano

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

About 7.5 years old (born around August 2018) 58 cm Male, neutered STILL IN POLAND, Bogu Update January 2026 Tolle Neuigkeiten von TANO 🙂 Tano now lives with two other dogs (one female and one male) and has really blossomed 🌸! He enjoys running and playing with his buddies and maintains a real athletic figure. Inside, the three of them snuggle side by side on a dog bed and rest together. Tano is very sensitive and clingy with his trusted people: if the caretakers leave the room, he is always completely sad and has to briefly whine because he so loves being with people – a true German Shepherd! Tano wishes for a home where he can spend lots of time with his favorite people, where he can be a full-fledged family member and feel safe and secure. Do you want to fulfill our lovely Tano's biggest wish 🐾💫? Update August 25 Our big, lovely Tano is a real cuddle bear: friendly, open, and extremely people-oriented. He loves running over the big meadow and then snuggling up comfortably. Tano needs people who give him affection, exercise, and love. Who will give him a forever home? Tano has been in Bogu since May 2023, so it's high time we introduce you to this "big teddy bear," as he has developed wonderfully: Where he was once reserved around people, he now greets all two-leggeds kindly and openly! Tano is grateful for any attention and is overjoyed when taken on a walk outside the shelter. He is a bit plump and perhaps not an ultra-walker, but he certainly doesn't belong with the "Old Irons" at his 6 years of age. Tano is fit and active and loves to be on the go. Tano walks very well on a leash and gets along well with female dogs. With male dogs, it must be defined who is the leader and who has the say. Tano wishes for a home with people who love to be outdoors. Some interesting variations, like a bit of nose work, would definitely appeal to him. He would make a great single dog or fit well with a non-dominant female dog. Who would like to give our beautiful German Shepherd with the light mask a wonderful home? We are sure he will thank you as a loyal friend and companion. Videos June 24: Video August 23:

Videos Juni 24: Video August 23:

About Tano

What life with Tano looks like

Tano is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tano, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tano?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tano on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tano if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tano already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tano isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tano and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
