Tanya

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Tanya is a good year old and only recently in the animal shelter in Schumen, Bulgaria. We estimate that she was born around June 2023. She came to the shelter for spaying and showed herself to be very people-oriented, immediately presenting herself as a cuddle monster. She snuggled up, enjoyed being stroked, and won everyone's hearts in no time. The decision to not return her to the streets was easy. Without a doubt, we want to place Tanya and make her and a family happy. With Tanya, you not only get a very friendly and open (sighthound) dog, but also a beautiful one. During her first walk, she surprised us all. The leash and harness weren't a mystery to her, even though she probably hadn't encountered them before. She was lively on the go, and Udo, who was at the end of the leash, had to step on the gas occasionally to keep up. With Tanya, you also get an energetic, active dog who will put your own fitness to the test. Our tip: Before adoption, it's definitely worth working on your condition. :-D During the short excursion, she constantly oriented herself to Udo and sought his proximity. Tanya has a shoulder height of approximately 57-58 cm and a distinctive underbite, which suits her well. She quickly adapted to shelter life and is very playful. Integrating her into a dog group was unproblematic, and Tanya played immediately with another female dog. It was a pleasure to watch them. She is compatible with her fellow animals and has likely learned dog language on the streets. Unfortunately, we know nothing about her previous life. Tanya probably has never lived in a house before. She starts in this area from scratch. We trust that she will accelerate quickly from zero to one hundred and learn everything a dog needs in Germany. Her outdoor experiences will come with her. Unlike our dogs, who grow up in the shelter without external stimuli, she will already have a certain repertoire. Tanya is microchipped, vaccinated, and neutered and would like to dash to her new family at full speed. Of course, she also brings love! If you have a nice home for our dear Tanya, please fill out the interested party questionnaire at: Grund zur Hoffnung e.V.

DE·Show original

About Tanya

What life with Tanya looks like

Tanya is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Collies suchen ein Zuhause in Oldenburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tanya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tanya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Collies suchen ein Zuhause handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tanya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tanya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Collies suchen ein Zuhause will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tanya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tanya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Collies suchen ein Zuhause early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tanya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
