Tara

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

Tara is vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, flea-free, veterinary examined and has an EU passport. My name is Tara and I am a female mixed breed dog, born around 05/2026. I am a small dog. Unfortunately, I am currently in a shelter and hope to find a wonderful home soon. I haven't had much experience in my life. The world outside is still big, new and sometimes a bit scary. So I am cautious and unsure in unfamiliar situations. I need time to discover everything at my own pace and gain trust. But if you give me this time, you will see who I really am. Because behind my shy exterior is a wonderful dog lady. When I feel safe, I become bolder and show you my cheerful, loving and lively side. I love to play, romp around and explore nature together. I enjoy walks, especially when I can understand the world bit by bit. But I also enjoy quiet moments. I love cuddling, snuggling up to you and just being in your presence. That's what gives me a sense of security. In my new home, I have to learn a lot. I don't know all the rules of living together and need people who show me with patience, understanding and loving consistency how life outside the shelter works. I wish for someone who takes me by the paw and accompanies me step by step. I get along very well with other dogs, so I can imagine sharing my home with a nice companion. Children are also welcome in my future home... it's just important that they treat me respectfully and responsibly. I really want to find a loving home and people who love me from the bottom of their hearts. Maybe you're waiting for me?

About Tara

What life with Tara looks like

Tara is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Herzsprung.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Herzsprung handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Herzsprung will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Herzsprung early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
