adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Taro has found a home! His story: Little Taro wishes for nothing more than a family of his own! Taro and his siblings – Kili, Mavie, Rosa, and Lakota – are still tiny at just 2.5 months old, but already so adorable. Born on the street, they were brought to the shelter by dog catchers. There, they share a run, snuggle, play, and show all that makes young dogs what they are: curious, lively, and joyfully greet anyone who comes to give them a moment of attention. For the first time, the five of them regularly receive meals and a bit of security. But what they need most now is still missing: security, closeness – and someone to show them how wonderful life can be. Mini-charmer Taro catches the eye with his brown fur and the striking darker snout – and enchants everyone instantly with his well-developed heartbreaker gene. With our wonderful mixed breeds, it’s generally not easy to determine which breeds are in them. Especially with the sweet five-member razzle-dazzle pack, which looks very different from each other, this becomes a challenge – so much is possible. Due to his current size, we suspect that Taro will likely grow into a medium-sized male dog. Like all puppies, Taro also needs people who have time for him – especially in the first year, when he needs to learn many things and get to know what a dog needs for life. Puberty will not be an exception for him: it’s completely normal that he sometimes tests his limits during this phase. Good dog training classes could provide valuable support here so that two and four-legged beings can grow into a well-coordinated team. The open and trusting Taro is looking for a home where he can be happy: with plenty of exercise, varied mental stimulation, and regular playtime. Adventures outside belong to him just as much as relaxed moments with his people. He wants to be with his family wherever possible and experience a lot. Friendly dog interactions would also surely please him. Whether he also develops a liking for cats, we don’t know – at his age, the chances are still good. After a positive age-related spay/neuter, he is still not neutered. Who is still searching for their best furry friend for life? A foster home would also be a valuable start for the little Taro! Many thanks, Selinah, for taking on his nametag sponsorship. As of: 07.07. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 07.07.2025

About Taro

What life with Taro looks like

Taro is a very small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
