Adopt Tarzan

Belgian Malinois · Male · Adult · 3 years

Tarzan - an active heart dog looking for a forever family. Tarzan is about 2.5 years old, and unfortunately we don't know much about his background. What we do see is a friendly, open dog who enjoys any attention, loves petting, and simply wants to belong. He gets along well with other dogs, and children are no problem for him. As a Malinois mix, Tarzan brings not only charm but also a lot of energy. These intelligent, hardworking dogs need more than just walks: they want tasks, mental challenges, and people who give them structure. Typically active, Tarzan should therefore be both physically and mentally stimulated. Regular rest periods should of course not be missing either - after all, even a high-performance dog needs relaxation. Especially with Malinois (and their mixes), it is important that they come to people who are familiar with the breed or are willing to deal intensively with their needs. They are not dogs for the side, but loyal companions for people who have time, patience, consistency, and joy in shared activities. Tarzan is looking for a home where he can belong, learn, and grow. An active household with a desire for shared adventures and clear, loving guidance would be ideal for him. Like many dogs from the animal shelter, Tarzan will also need some time to find his way in his new life. New environments, strange people, and many impressions can be challenging at first. But Tarzan has everything needed to become a strong human-dog team - and with the right family by his side, he will hopefully develop into the balanced, happy companion he deserves. If you are aware of what comes with adopting a rescue dog and you have fallen in love with him, please contact the responsible adoption officer from SALVA Dog Help. We would also be very grateful for the provision of a foster home! Here are Tarzan's videos: Video 1 - Video 2 - Video 3 - Video 4

About Tarzan

What life with Tarzan looks like

Tarzan is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tarzan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tarzan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tarzan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tarzan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tarzan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tarzan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tarzan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
