Adopt Tashi

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

♀, born ca. 2015 - shy - affectionate. Tashi is a mixed-breed female dog born around 2015 with a shoulder height of about 48 cm. She currently weighs 18 kg. Tashi spent most of her life in a large animal shelter in a chicken coop and has now been in her foster home for a longer time, where she has blossomed and overcome her fears. So, the female dog now shows more and more adventurous behavior and wants to explore the world. She now runs well on a leash, snuggles with her foster mom, and plays with other dogs. Tashi loves to walk in the fields and run freely with larger male dogs over the meadows. Tashi is generally compatible with other dogs, except for her food jealousy. In the open, Tashi is full of energy, but in the house, she behaves quietly. Her greatest passion is snuggling on the sofa together. She has, however, a fondness for cats. We wish for Tashi a home where her people will have patience for her initial skepticism and insecurity and can provide her with the necessary calm and time to support her. Additionally, we wish to place Tashi in a quiet and rural environment. A family with children is not really an option for her, as she is still afraid of too many activities and the noise in the household. A safe only-dog home, where she can orient herself, would be a great addition for Tashi, but of course, it is not a must. Tashi arrived with bald spots in Germany, and it turned out that the cause was a thyroid dysfunction. She requires a daily tablet for life to balance the missing hormones. With this hormone therapy, she lives symptom-free. Tashi is already neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated and was tested negative for travel diseases. She is in a foster home near Cologne. Tashi can be visited (even more often) and her foster mom offers support and guidance as a dog trainer during the adjustment phase. The adoption fee for Tashi is 390 Euros. About Tashi

What life with Tashi looks like

Tashi is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tashi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tashi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tashi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tashi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tashi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tashi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tashi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
