Adopt Teddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Teddy is a 7 year old (approx) ginger boy, he has semi long hair and a big fluffy tail. He has been staying with one of our lovely volunteers and now he is ready to be rehomed. He is a very friendly cat and will make himself right at home in his new surroundings. As Teddy is semi long haired he will need daily brushing to keep him looking his handsome self, this needs to be considered fully before applying for Teddy. Teddy loves to be around people and likes to spend time laid with you receiving cuddles and strokes. A suitable home for Teddy would be with a family with older children, a couple or a single person would be a good match too. Teddy is used to going outside so would need to be able to venture outside when the time is right, this should be a safe green area away from busy roads, canals, train tracks etc. This ginger boy has been used to living with children and other cats and would make a lovely addition to any home. Teddy has now been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, flead, wormed and vet checked. If you like the look of Teddy and think you could offer him a suitable home, please apply using our online Application Form after reading our Adoption Policy. Please note an adoption fee of £100 applies.

About Teddy

What life with Teddy looks like

Teddy is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Heatons Cat Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Heatons Cat Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Heatons Cat Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Heatons Cat Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
