TETRYK

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Tetryk – Senior – Handicap - Male, neutered, born approximately January 2012, shoulder height approximately 45 cm, weight approximately 10.9 kg, at Belchatow Animal Shelter since September 12, 2026. What must an old dog like this go through, coming to the shelter at 14 years old, loud, stressful, crowded, and cold. Here comes Tetryk, the poor thing, he is completely energetic - he doesn't know what's happening, what's going to happen, and what has happened. He stands there, completely lost. Tetryk makes contact briefly, very carefully, sniffs my hand briefly - he doesn't want more. He doesn't snap, doesn't run away, just stands still, he probably wants to go somewhere, but where. That's why he just stands still, with Agnes - unsure, overwhelmed. - Such a sad sight. The little fellow is very thin, his coat unkempt, shaggy, and matted. In addition, Tetryk is "slightly deaf and slightly blind" - how pronounced this is, we can't determine here, but definitely he doesn't hear or see well. According to the shelter: "He probably spent his life on a chain, there are scars around his neck. He came to the shelter with a long, heavy chain around his neck. The worn-out fur on his neck and the scars tell us a clear picture of his former life. Tetryk was probably abandoned. Tetryk is looking for a quiet place to sleep, a bowl with warm food, and gentle petting. This is all this dog wants. " Yes, Tetryk, that's what we wish for you so much. You should spend your last time in a warm basket, just sleep, get delicious food, and be petted. Not on a chain, not in a kennel, your neck and your soul should heal. At the moment, Tetryk is still in the hospital, but now he will go to the senior kennel with other old gentlemen. We are still asking if these are female dog and / or dogs. Tetryk can walk well on a leash. (10/2026 B/KW)

(10/2026 B/KW )

About TETRYK

What life with TETRYK looks like

TETRYK is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Polen in Dierkshausen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting TETRYK, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about TETRYK?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Polen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw TETRYK on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt TETRYK if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Polen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is TETRYK already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if TETRYK isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Polen early rather than rehoming privately; they know TETRYK and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
