Teun en Tinus

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 4 months

Teun and Tinus came to the foundation from a difficult situation, together with their four little brothers and mom. At first, they spent plenty of time together there, but now they’re living in a foster home for further socialization. Teun and Tinus would love nothing more than to stay together. Like almost all kittens around nine or ten weeks old, they absolutely adore playing. They don’t have much time for cuddling, though. When they get tired, they snuggle up together in the scratching post and take a quick nap before jumping right back into play. Both are very sociable and enjoy people quite a bit—but they like each other even more! In the foster home, they’re not afraid of strangers either and let them pet them without any hesitation. There are three other cats living in the foster home, one of whom occasionally blows at them. But Teun and Tinus hardly pay any attention to that; they just keep on doing what they were doing before. They’re not used to dogs or children yet, but since they’re truly social kittens, I expect they’ll adjust fine with a calm introduction. Because they haven’t experienced only pleasant things in their young lives, getting used to new environments might take a bit longer. In the foster home, it took some time for them to feel comfortable in the enclosed kitten room, but later on, they also got used to the rest of the house. Teun is the smallest of the four kittens—but he’s also the “protector.” He’s the one who tends to stand his ground and give the adult cats in the foster home a good blast of air. Tinus, on the other hand, is always busy. He really only has time for playing and eating. Petting is fine, but not for too long. As they get older, that will probably improve—right now, they’re constantly “on” when they’re awake, leaving no time at all for cuddling or petting. In terms of energy levels, these two brothers match each other perfectly, and they’d love a home with a big scratching post. They absolutely love climbing back and forth in the scratching post. A play rail with balls and feather wands is also one of their favorite toys. As flycatchers, they’ll probably be well-suited for that role later on as well. Both of them “hunt” flies, but so far they’re still a bit too small to be really successful at it. Both brothers mainly eat fresh meat; they’ll also eat kitten kibble, but they prefer fresh meat even more. In a new home, they don’t necessarily need access to the outdoors—rather, they’d do best in a fenced-in garden or balcony. They’re still young kittens who don’t yet know any dangers.

Tinus is vooral druk.

About Teun en Tinus

What life with Teun en Tinus looks like

Teun en Tinus is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Kat in Nood in Netherlands.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teun en Tinus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teun en Tinus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kat in Nood handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teun en Tinus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teun en Tinus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kat in Nood will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teun en Tinus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teun en Tinus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kat in Nood early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teun en Tinus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
