Theo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

♂, born ca. 1/2021 social - lovable - athletic in Spain Theo is a ca. 1/2021 born English Setter mixed male with a shoulder height of ca. 55 cm. Theo was discovered and secured in August 2026, wandering alone and abandoned in a small Spanish village. He was presumably abandoned and left to fend for himself. Since then, Theo has been eagerly waiting in the refuge for a loving and suitable home and a cozy warm dog bed. The lovable and very active male has a lot of energy and needs physical and mental stimulation. He is looking for committed people who have a lot of time for him, challenge and encourage him, teach him the basics of dog training with calmness and patience, ideally combined with regular visits to dog school, and integrate him actively into their daily routine, where Theo finally experiences security, love and care. Theo is compatible with dogs of both sexes. He would be happy to be placed with other socially compatible dogs, ideally of similar age and size. Due to his breed, Theo is very dynamic and has a lot of power and energy. A loving home is sought for Theo with active people who have a lot of time for him, as well as a desire and joy in joint activities with him and discover the world together, because he has probably not yet experienced much and is also no couch potato. A more rural home and environment would be desirable and ideal for him. Cats and/or small animals should not be present in his future home. Theo is neutered, vaccinated, chipped and tested for Mediterranean diseases. He is located in a refuge in Catalonia. The adoption fee for Theo is 580 euros. Do you want to give Theo a loving home? About Theo

What life with Theo looks like

Theo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Theo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Theo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Theo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Theo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Theo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Theo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Theo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
