adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Who falls in love with the wonderful Thuja? The calm, gentle, and cute female dog can now experience life as a family dog in her foster home. And Thuja quickly learns to walk calmly on a leash, enjoys quiet walks, and likes to stay in the garden. But she also happily returns to the house, where she can relax comfortably and feel content. After her foster parent won her trust sensitively, Thuja now also enjoys cuddles and pays close attention to her people. Thuja has harmoniously integrated into the pack of dogs and people, sensitive and modest as she is. With a shoulder height of about 43 cm and currently weighing around 23 kg, she belongs to the medium-sized female dogs. She has short, black fur with brown markings. Thuja is in the process of regaining her fitness and slender figure, as she carried around a few extra kilos due to a lack of movement opportunities in the shelter. Unfortunately, Thuja's teeth still bear the marks of her sad, dark past, as they require urgent treatment. We hope to alleviate her pain through an operation and ask for your support. For over 2.5 years, Thuja led a shadowy existence in the shelter in Baia Mare, seeing many pen-mates come and go, as she always hid in her hut when someone wanted more from her than a treat. Thuja was a shy, reserved girl who had likely not gathered many good experiences with humans up until then. Thuja is now about 6 years old and hopefully has most of her life ahead of her. She is now ready for the sunny side of life and her own home! She seeks loving, sensitive people who can give her a cozy home and be by her side forever. Still, Thuja is a bit shy and reserved, and there is much she does not yet know. With patience and loving affection, the smart female dog will surely continue to make good progress. Thuja seeks a quieter home and is satisfied with moderate activities. Whether Thuja likes cats, we still do not know, but given her friendly nature, we can imagine that she could adapt to a life with cats. Thuja can be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and moved into her new home with an EU pet passport. She will be transferred after a positive assessment. We thank the namingsponsor Steph C. for giving Thuja her beautiful name. Many thanks to Lothar R and Emely S.! You have supported Thuja with a monthly sponsorship! Thuja had a dental operation and needs help with the costs: As of 26.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Thuja

What life with Thuja looks like

Thuja is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thuja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thuja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thuja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thuja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thuja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thuja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thuja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
