Tia

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Senior · 11 years

Tia is housetrained and must have a garden in her new home, as she really relies on the outdoor space to build her confidence. Despite her age she still enjoys a good walk in a quiet area where she can do her own thing. She is friendly when meeting new people and will sometimes jump up to greet you. Once she has built a bond with you Tia will be your best friend. If you're looking for an affectionate dog then Tia is your girl, as she loves to sleep on your bed at night. Tia is such a sweet angel and we just know she is going to make the best companion to her new lucky family. Tia is a super sweet 11 year old Staffie X, who still has plenty of energy despite her age. She could potentially live with another dog pending a successful meet in our centre, but prefers calmer dogs who are good at reading her body language as she can be a bit wary at first. Similarly, all children in the home should be older secondary school age and know when to give her the space she needs. Tia may take a while to settle into her new home as she can find change quite difficult to deal with. For this reason she is looking for patient and understanding owners who are willing to give her the time and tools she needs to feel safe in her new home. Ideally, her new family will be home most of the time, as she will need her leaving hours built up very slowly at first. Luckily, she loves a good cuddle on the sofa, so once she's built that trust with you, she settles well.

About Tia

What life with Tia looks like

Tia is a senior staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
