Adopt Timmy

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Timmy is one of my favorites, and he immediately jumped into my heart almost 10 years ago when he came to the shelter. He was then handed in with his (probably) mother at the Center for Mixed Breeds to be spayed. Unfortunately, they were never picked up again. So the two of them came to the shelter. His mother was friendly from the beginning, but Timmy found people scary. Timmy is not a dog that joyfully runs up to (unknown) people. But he can build trust if given time. I have spent a lot of time with Timmy, and he is certainly happy with affection. Anyone adopting Timmy should have experience with very insecure dogs. He is a dog who will probably never walk through the city on a leash. That shouldn't even be expected of him. For this beautiful male dog, people with a garden in a quiet neighborhood would be ideal, so that walks are possible, and Timmy has time to get to know a life with routines, and also things that scare him. Timmy is a jewel. He is trapped in his fear, whenever and why it started. I can only say from my own experience: these dogs are something very special, and the moment when they begin to trust is an invaluable gift. He has been in the shelter his whole life. It would be nice if he could still find his people and his home 💕Info: Timmy is ready for adoption and travels like all others via a licensed transport company. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Timmy

What life with Timmy looks like

Timmy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad in Aachen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timmy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timmy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timmy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timmy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Timmy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timmy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timmy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
