Adopt Timo-2

Male · Senior · 10 years

Country of origin: Hungary This beautiful senior dog is named Timo. He has been sent to the Menhely for the second time. In June 2025, he was found on the highway and taken to the animal shelter. After 14 days, his owner came to pick him up. He apparently wasn't in a hurry to bring his dog home... Now on April 22, 2026, Timo was found again on the highway. He was sitting on the median strip and had to be evacuated from there. You can't imagine how lucky he was. Timo's guardian angel must definitely have worked overtime... His owner was informed, but he stated that he had sold Timo and gave the Menhely the number of the new owner, who however showed no more interest in Timo. Perhaps it's better this way, because Timo deserves people who respect and protect him. We really wish that Timo can soon exchange the animal shelter for a loving home. Timo is a kind and nice senior dog, who was initially a bit reserved, but is now gaining more confidence and trying to get used to his new living situation. Since Timo probably only lived as a farm dog/chain dog, he hasn't experienced much. Therefore, his new people should be ready to patiently and sensitively introduce him to the everyday things of life, although he is actually curious about life outside. With the older people, it's usually the case that the demands on physical activities are not as high anymore, but the loving attention is enjoyed all the more. Old, male, large, and a shepherd mix, all points that make it not so easy to find a quick loving home for Timo. People are needed who have a big heart for older dogs and see what a jackpot Timo is, because with the following adjectives he can really score: friendly, handsome, lovable, modest, optimistic, grateful, loyal, and has his heart in the right place. Timo gets along well with his fellow dogs, Edwina was very impressed by him during the "dog test". Currently, Timo lives alone in the kennel. Status (May 13, 2026) We urgently need enthusiastic dog lovers for our charming Timo, who also give an elderly dog a chance. Timo should not have to live in a cage, but should have a soft basket of his own, lots of cuddling and snuggling, nice walks through forest and field, and simply enjoy his life, knowing that he is loved and cared for, probably for the first time in his life. Who will give Timo paradise on earth for his golden years? Timo will no longer be castrated due to his age. Timo can travel from around mid-June 2026 if he has found a home or a foster care. A big thank you to Renate Koller for taking over the sponsorship of Timo!

Ursprungsland: Ungarn Dieser wunderschöne Hundesenior heisst Timo.

About Timo-2

What life with Timo-2 looks like

Timo-2 is a large senior dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timo-2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timo-2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timo-2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timo-2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Timo-2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timo-2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timo-2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
