Tjago

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Tjago, a six-year-old mixed breed, was found on the street about a year ago. He has scars from his past, having been found limping by a child who took him home. For the first time in his life, Tjago experienced love and affection. Unfortunately, this feeling did not last long. The child's parents did not tolerate the six-year-old male and he lost his security. Fortunately, he was able to move to his current foster family and shows every day what a kind and well-behaved dog he is. Tjago gets along wonderfully with dogs he knows and has a very loving nature. He is open and very social with people. However, cats and small animals should not be present in his new home, as he sees them as toys. With his impressive size of 57cm, Tjago is a true eye-catcher. Due to his appearance, we suspect he is a shepherd dog mix. This breed is known for intelligence, eagerness to learn, and loyalty. Therefore, we are looking for a family for Tjago who will promote him both physically and mentally. A positive working dog school that offers activities like tracking or scent work would be especially fun for him. Since he is not used to living indoors, he still needs to learn house training. He already walks well on a leash. Tjago dreams of a loving home full of security and comfort. Maybe you could be the one to give him this? Then contact us or fill out the self-assessment form on the website. Tjago is castrated, vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, and dewormed. He will be placed for adoption with a deposit and a valid EU pet passport after a positive pre-control. Thank you, Celina, for giving Tjago his name. Date: 11.09.2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Tjago

What life with Tjago looks like

Tjago is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tjago, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tjago?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tjago on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tjago if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tjago already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tjago isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tjago and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
