Toby

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Toby is 3 years and 8 months old. He has been waiting 1088 days for someone to notice him. Toby doesn’t realise his size when he tries to sit on your lap — he really wants to be a lap dog and is a cuddle monster. He is affectionate, loving, and adored by everyone here, yet still remains invisible. He loves all dogs, large and small, is not bothered by cats unless they want to play, and has no interest in livestock. He loves toys and will play all day. Toby will need a large garden and would love another playful companion his own size. Children over 12 years old are ideal. He is excellent on the lead and promises to be a joyful companion. Now please help find his hoooooman — adopting a rescue nobody wants is the best gift you can give.

About Toby

What life with Toby looks like

Toby is a large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Haven Ireland in Ireland.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Toby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Haven Ireland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Haven Ireland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Toby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Haven Ireland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
