Wilbur

Mixed Breed ยท Male ยท Young ยท 1 year

Love this back drop for Wilbur ๐Ÿ’ž Wilbur is hoping he may get a home offer too ๐ŸคžWilbur is now 17 mnts old. He was living with a family until recently. So he is housetrained and has beautiful manners. He travels in the car with ease. Extremely confident around people and so playful ( see video in comments ) he loves toys and will play for hours so he would really suit a teenage family who would love a playful side. Wilbur would walk through heavy traffic or a busy city. He is very outgoing and fears nothing. He would love a companion his own size as his companion and shares with two at this moment even his toys and treats. He is just a super boy for someone to adopt and all the hard work is done ๐Ÿพ

About Wilbur

What life with Wilbur looks like

Wilbur is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Haven Ireland in Ireland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" โ€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures โ€” to let them settle.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ชAdopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilbur, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilbur?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Haven Ireland handles screening and the adoption contract directly โ€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilbur on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilbur if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad โ€” Animal Haven Ireland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra โ‚ฌ100โ€“โ‚ฌ350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wilbur already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported โ€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilbur isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work โ€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Haven Ireland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilbur and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect โ€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
