How do I contact the shelter about Tofu?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tofu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Tofu if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Tofu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Tofu isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tofu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Tofu

Mixed Breed · Unknown

A little Tofu has probably decided to stay tiny forever, hoping for a better chance of being adopted? We don't know, but she's definitely growing very slowly ;-) She's a cute and friendly little companion who walks through the world a bit cautiously. She takes good care of herself and observes strangers or situations from a distance at first. But once she feels safe, she's playful and open. A secure cat by her side would definitely be good for her. Maybe even "Sumi"? Tofu is one of the few cats that "Sumi" likes ;-) Then send us an email with information and photos about the future care of the cat or leave a message on our answering machine. We'd be happy to schedule an appointment and show you our cats, as well as possible setup options. In a personal conversation, we'll discuss you and the needs of the individual animal and find the best possible human-cat match with you.

About Tofu

What life with Tofu looks like

Tofu is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. in Minden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
