Kind-hearted family companion and easygoing partner for every stage of life 🍀 TOKALA – An easygoing dream of a male dog and the perfect beginner’s companion is looking for his forever home. The charming male dog TOKALA is eagerly waiting to finally exchange the dreary world of the animal shelter for a warm, cozy bed. Born in January 2021, this handsome fellow is currently around 5.5 years old—exactly the prime dog age. He has long since left behind his exuberant teenage phase and now brings a wonderful, balanced maturity that makes him the perfect companion for any life situation. Standing about 50 cm tall at the shoulder, TOKALA has an absolutely ideal, medium size. Visually, he’s a stunning sight with his thick, light, wheat-colored coat and his utterly heartwarming, open smile. His friendly, dark eyes radiate great gentleness and pure joy of life. In terms of temperament, TOKALA is an absolute gem: He’s incredibly friendly, open-minded, and proves to be an exceptionally easygoing partner in everyday life. Thanks to his all-around good-natured and adaptable character, he’s perfectly suited as a first-time dog for beginners. Even for families or individuals who are welcoming their very first dog into their lives, this wonderful male dog is truly a dream come true. When it comes to interacting with other dogs, TOKALA also shines—he’s highly social and gets along wonderfully with other canines. Of course, this clever male dog would still love to learn the basics of dog etiquette and how to live comfortably indoors together with his people. Thanks to his eager-to-learn nature and strong bond with humans, he’ll certainly master these skills in no time at all. Who will give this loyal and grateful companion a loving forever home? Friendly, easygoing, and well-behaved ✓ Happy to join another dog ✓ Suitable for first-time owners We rescued TOKALA from the Cornetu kill shelter in April 2023. We know nothing about his previous history. Help TOKALA find a home—share this with your friends ❤️

About Tokala

What life with Tokala looks like

Tokala is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tokala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tokala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tokala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tokala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tokala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tokala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tokala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
