Tom

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Tom was born on 16.04.2020 and is a medium-sized male dog, approximately 50 cm tall. The handsome dog with the fluffy coat and loyal eyes shows himself to be exceptionally friendly, loving and people-oriented on site. Despite his situation, Tom has retained his open nature and greets people kindly and openly. Tom also gets along well with his fellow dogs and is compatible. He longs for nothing more than to leave the shelter behind and exchange it for a loving home or foster home. A cozy bed, regular walks and people who love him would mean a whole new world for Tom. Whether Tom has already experienced life in a house cannot be said with certainty. Therefore, his future family should give him time to get used to everything new in peace. Everyday noises, unfamiliar environments or being left alone could be unfamiliar to him at first and should be built up patiently and step by step. Tom brings the best prerequisites to become a wonderful companion. With his friendly nature, he will surely conquer the hearts of his people. Now he only needs a suitable home where he can arrive, gain trust and enjoy the good things in life. Tom is neutered and will be vaccinated, chipped and placed with a protection contract with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. after a positive preliminary check. General note on our protégés: Our dogs in Romania are regularly visited so that we can reassess their behavior and development again and again. These personal impressions help us very much to convey a possibly good picture of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment - with new people, new routines and new impressions - can also show himself differently. This is quite normal and is part of every change process. Many dogs open up faster at home and show sides that were not visible in the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are not a guarantee for every behavior in the new environment. They should give an orientation and show how the dog presents himself in the shelter - and what potential is in him. We are convinced: With patience, understanding and a loving environment, every dog can find his way and develop positively.

About Tom

What life with Tom looks like

Tom is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tom, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tom?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tom on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tom if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Tom already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tom isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tom and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
