Animal Protection of Pego (APROP): Input March 5, 2026: Tom was brought to Albaida perrera along with four other dogs after the owner passed away. Albaida perrera is one of the most depressing shelters in the area and APROP decided to take him out of there, especially because he was still a pup. Soon it became clear that Tom was not doing well, it was thought he had ingested rat poison. Tom was placed with a foster family so he could receive all the attention 24/7 and be observed, which is unfortunately not possible in the shelter. After thorough examination by the veterinarian, it was confirmed that Tom has Anaplasma. This disease occurs if the dog is not treated after being bitten by a tick. Tom is doing well now. He has energy again, is playful, likes to play with his housemates and loves to walk. We wish Tom a nice family where he can live long and happily.

Geadopteerd via het asiel, mei 2026 Protectora de Animales de Pego (APROP): Input 5 maart 2026: Tom is samen met vier andere honden naar Albaida perrera gebracht nadat de eigenaar was overleden. Albaida perrera is een van de meest deprimerende asielen hier in de omgeving en APROP besloot hem daar weg te halen, met name omdat hij nog een pup was. Al gauw bleek dat het niet goed ging met Tom, er werd gedacht dat hij rattenvergif had binnen gekregen. Tom ging naar een pleeggezin omdat hij daar alle aandacht 24/7 zou kunnen krijgen en geobserveerd kon worden, wat in de shelter helaas onmogelijk is. Na gedegen onderzoek door de dierenarts werd er geconstateerd dat Tom Anaplasma heeft. Deze ziekte ontstaat als de hond niet behandeld wordt als hij gebeten is door een teek. Het gaat nu goed met Tom. Hij heeft weer energie, is speels, speelt graag met zijn huisgenoten en houdt van wandelen. Wij wensen voor Tom een fijne familie waar hij nog lang en gelukkig kan leven.
