Tóno

Mixed Breed · Male

Tóno is a dog whose story is not easy - nor is his nature. Perhaps that's why we don't mention him as often as other dogs. It is very likely that he will spend the rest of his life with us. Over time we have gotten used to Tona. We know his behavior, his reactions and his limits. Tóno is a reactive dog and in certain situations he can become highly stressed, which may even appear like "madness." However, this is a result of his past - years spent on a chain, which left deep marks on him. His reactions are not out of malice, but fear and learned behavioral patterns. He carries with him post-traumatic reactions from the life he lived for many years. The adoption of Tona will be very challenging and honestly - not for everyone. Manipulation with him is only possible to a certain extent and requires experience, patience and respect for his boundaries. Despite this, we would be very grateful if someone could give him a chance and try with him. In our conditions, we don't have much space for systematic training, so we welcome any advice, help or experience from people who know how to work with such a dog. Even though everything, Tóno is today happier with us. He has more freedom, more peace and, of course, more favorite chew toys. And although his path may not lead to a new home, we will do everything to make his life as good as possible.

SK·Show original

Napriek tomu by sme boli veľmi vďační, ak by sa našiel niekto, kto by mu chcel dať šancu a skúsiť to s ním.

About Tóno

What life with Tóno looks like

Tóno is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Karanténna stanica Pezinok in Pezinok.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tóno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tóno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Karanténna stanica Pezinok handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tóno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tóno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Karanténna stanica Pezinok will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tóno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tóno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Karanténna stanica Pezinok early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tóno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
