adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Tony has found his own home! His story: In late May, our Tony was able to move to his foster family in Wertheim, Baden-Württemberg. Here, the handsome boy lives happily with two other dogs in a family with an older child. Tony is a very people-oriented, friendly, and rather quiet dog who can also occupy himself well with his toys for some time alone. He especially enjoys playing in the dog pool. He is a real water rat who also likes to dive for a piece of sausage. On walks, he shows good progress with the leash. Tony is house-trained and alerts when he needs to go out. Dog meetings are a hit and a thrill for Tony, he reacts very interestedly and friendly. When visitors come to the house, he is friendly and even waits patiently to be greeted. Outside, he also likes to run with strangers sometimes 🙂 He still needs some practice and patience when it comes to busy streets and closed rooms, but it is getting better every day. Tony has a wonderful contrasting coat, from white to gray-black at the paws, and strikingly light eyes. He is about 6 months old and just under 50 cm tall. He will therefore maintain a nice medium size. For this very loving boy, a rural, quiet home with an enclosed garden would be ideal. Children should already be a bit older and be able to accept that he also needs time for himself. The start for Tony and his brother Feivel was far from beautiful when they were found alone and without their mother. No one knows exactly what happened to them. They were fortunately brought to the public shelter in Bristrita for safety. We wish Tony a loving and patient home. Tony is vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms, and has a positive EU pet passport. Of course, he has it with him and will be after a positive. Has the sweet Tony won your heart? Then contact us to meet him personally! Many thanks to Margrit! You gave Tony his cute name! As of: 22.06.

Was ihnen genau zugestoßen ist weiß niemand. About Tony

What life with Tony looks like

Tony is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tony, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tony?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tony on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tony if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tony already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tony isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tony and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
