Mixed Breed · Male

Tripy – who sees with the heart recognizes the perfection → Breed: mixed breed → Gender: male → Born on: 04/2021 → Size / Weight: 50 cm / 19 kg → Neutered: yes → Vaccinated: yes → Identification: Chip → Compatible with: male dogs and female dogs → Incompatible with: N/A → Sponsorships possible: yes Description: Tripy, our young charming male dog, immediately impresses with his beautiful coat in dark and light brown shades that shine in the sunlight. A true feast for the eyes – and full of energy and joy for life! He is a real whirlwind, curious and adventurous. With his cheerful nature, he infects everyone around him; he loves to romp, jump, and constantly discover new things. The fact that he goes through life on three legs has never held him back – quite the opposite: He manages it perfectly and feels completely whole. His past has shaped him, but not stopped him: After a severe injury, one of his hind legs had to be amputated. Since then, he has learned to adapt perfectly and shows every day that he is top fit despite this special condition. Of course, being a three-legged dog means that as an owner, you should take a little extra care – for example, when climbing stairs or on very long, strenuous walks. However, otherwise, he can easily keep up with a healthy dog. His balance and zest for life make him a wonderful companion.

About Tripy

What life with Tripy looks like

Tripy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tripy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tripy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tripy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tripy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tripy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tripy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tripy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
