Adopt Trixi

Mixed Breed · Unknown

My brother Timy and I have lived here at the animal shelter since puppyhood. Sadly, we haven't seen much of the world yet. What we lack most is a comfortable home with our own dog bed, as well as people who love us and see us not just as one of many dogs, but as "the" dog. The staff at the animal shelter would like to place us separately, which will likely be very hard for us, as we've always been together. We currently live here together in a run, and that has its reasons. Unfortunately, we can't be with the other dogs because we behave rather badly towards them. Aggressive might even be a better description. But hey, we've never learned to behave and have always just been ourselves. Together, we are really strong, almost like a little gang. But if I'm honest, it will probably be better for each of us to have our own home and not already have "another dog" waiting for us there. Being a prince in my own home for once would be really great. It would be super if my future home also had a dog bed for me to fall into when I'm tired. I don't even know what that feels like yet. By the way, I would be the happiest dog if I could ever have my own dog bed to relax in. People here at the shelter are really great; they give cuddles when they have time for me. Unfortunately, there's not much "good time" here, but when someone does have time for me, I really enjoy it. I love being cuddled, whether by a female or male person. As long as I'm noticed at all. Unfortunately, I've also caught leishmaniasis, just like my brother. I don't have it as badly as he does, with slightly lower values, but I'm also treated with allopurinol and currently undergo a four-month course with Leishguard syrup. So, I'm afraid I have to bring my little medicine bag. I would prefer it to be different…

About Trixi

What life with Trixi looks like

Trixi is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trixi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trixi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trixi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trixi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trixi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trixi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trixi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
