Tsjoef en Tuff

European Shorthair · Unknown · Kitten · 3 months

Tuff and Tsjoef are 12-week-old brother and sister. Tsjoef (cypers with white) is a bit on the small side, but he doesn't even notice. He runs and plays just as fast as his siblings. Tsjoef loves people, to play with them, cuddle with them, and is also very good at getting food from them. He sets a good example for Tuff, they can play together wonderfully and Tuff really looks up to her little brother. Tuff is a cypers kitten who is still very uncertain. In one of our foster families, she is slowly gaining trust in people. Tuff really wants a safe spot; a safe place from which she can explore her new home and people. This can be a bench or a very large travel crate. We are looking for a quiet household without small children with people who have a lot of patience to help Tuff become more confident in herself and her surroundings. Tsjoef would love to help with that because together everything is twice as fun. When they grow up, they would love to be able to go outside.

NL·Show original

About Tsjoef en Tuff

What life with Tsjoef en Tuff looks like

Tsjoef en Tuff is a large puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden in Leiden.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tsjoef en Tuff, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tsjoef en Tuff?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tsjoef en Tuff on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tsjoef en Tuff if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tsjoef en Tuff already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tsjoef en Tuff isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tsjoef en Tuff and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
