Adopt Tuco

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Because the Canile staff simply do not have the time to give the sick, needy puppy the attention and affection that would be necessary, they asked our partner Loredana for help. Loredana had also taken in needy puppies from the Canile in the past, and so she also said yes this time. Under Loredana's loving care, the little Tuco, as he was named, soon got better. And now he is fit and lively and looking forward to his life. He is loving and playful, and it is now time for him to find his final family. Therefore, we wish for the cute Tuco that he can soon embark on his journey to Germany. Surely there are people here who are waiting for him as a family addition and would like to give him his dream home with a tight family connection. October 1, 2022: Tuco was allowed to travel to his German foster home. October 5, 2022: Tuco settled into his foster home quickly and felt right at home :-). He is very open, friendly, and people-oriented. He also gets along well with the existing dogs; the house cat interests him not at all. Tuco was house-trained from the start, walking on a leash works quite well, and he finds everything interesting. The dog lesson still needs to be practiced. In the house, he is well-behaved when he is tired. When bored, a shoe or sock might go missing :-). He wants to be challenged and encouraged, but he can also keep himself occupied with his dog toys. All around, he is a real sunshine for active people who can give him a loving home. April 12, 2026:

About Tuco

What life with Tuco looks like

Tuco is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tuco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tuco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tuco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tuco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tuco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tuco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tuco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
