Tuptuś

Male · Senior · 13 years

Tuptuś is a deaf and vision-impaired elderly gentleman. Though he seems like a grumpy old man absorbed in his own world, he truly needs human companionship. In his kennel, he often stands waiting for walks, which he takes very slowly. Once outside the shelter, feeling soft grass under his paws, he begins to relax. He likes walking at his own pace and sniffing around. He allows being picked up though doesn't particularly enjoy it. When petted on the head, he shakes himself off charmingly, as if we've messed up his carefully arranged hair. He enjoys belly scratches and ear scratches, but you should expect a dog who likes closeness on his own terms. He could live with another calm dog, provided they're not too pushy. Tuptuś needs peace and respect for his boundaries. In return, he'll simply be with his human, and we believe he'll be happy.

About Tuptuś

What life with Tuptuś looks like

Tuptuś is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Hearing and vision impaired, needs quiet environment and respect for boundaries

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tuptuś, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tuptuś?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tuptuś on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tuptuś if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tuptuś already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tuptuś isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tuptuś and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
