Tyson &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 1 month

Tyson is a ten-month-old (as of 01/26) Bollerhound-mix, who has put on his nicest outfit just for you. A shirt and tailcoat suit him just as fantastically as his golden eyebrows, and yet, our funny teenager finds himself back at the animal shelter for the second time in his young life. Our rambunctious teenager first came into the care of our friends at El Buen Amigo when he was just four weeks old, a fragile ball of fur, exposed to the elements. Quickly, he grew into a witty baby, exploring the world with big round eyes and tentative steps. Because he was "so cute," he also found fans in Spain, and Tyson proudly considers himself the lucky one to have won his family. But Tyson grew at a rapid pace, and from the adorable baby, he became a sturdy young dog who wanted to be busy and trained. His family could no longer handle him, the dog too big, too active, too time-consuming – and Tyson was back behind bars. Our sometimes a bit stormy young spund now seeks reliable people who can guide him through puberty and patiently explain the world to him. Tyson needs dog-experienced people who are a bit steadfast, have a lot of humor, and always have a cookie in their pocket. As he (typically a pubescent pup who hasn't yet enjoyed any training) tends to claim resources like food for himself and hasn't yet heard of proper restraint, we wish for a home without small children – and the older children should also understand that Tyson still doesn't know how sharing works. At the animal shelter, it shows that he is indeed eager to learn, wants to please, and follows clear guidance with joy. He is, however, a character-strong male dog who will surely also take on responsibility later if no one does it for him. If you know large dogs and understand that puberty doesn't last as long as one thinks when it's in full swing, and that the best stories you tell about your best friend later on begin when you're full of humor and sporty, have the time and patience to bring, and can promise Tyson that he won't be sent away again just because he's too big and too active, then we are thrilled to hear from you soon!

DE·Show original

About Tyson &#8211

What life with Tyson &#8211 looks like

Tyson &#8211 is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tyson &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tyson &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tyson &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tyson &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tyson &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tyson &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tyson &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
