Adopt Tyson

Male · Senior · 9 years

Tyson is an attached and friendly male dog. When dealing with unfamiliar people, he initially shows some insecurity and needs some time to warm up to his counterpart. Once he gets to know someone better, he does not want to leave their side and spends a lot of time with his new person. Mental fitness and appropriate training are very important for Tyson - on one hand, because it gives the eager male dog a lot of pleasure, and on the other hand, because he suffers from hip dysplasia and physical exertion must be adjusted accordingly. The male dog struggles with a food allergy and requires permanent special food. Additionally, a malignant tumor had to be removed, and there is a possibility of recurrence. When it comes to fellow animals and children, Tyson shows insecurity, so they should not live in the same household. Tyson would greatly appreciate a home with dog-experienced people who have a garden.

About Tyson

What life with Tyson looks like

Tyson is a senior dog waiting at Sonnenhof Eisenstadt (Sonnentiere) in Austria.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tyson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tyson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Sonnenhof Eisenstadt (Sonnentiere) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tyson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tyson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Sonnenhof Eisenstadt (Sonnentiere) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tyson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tyson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Sonnenhof Eisenstadt (Sonnentiere) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tyson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
