Uma

Rottweiler · Female · Young · 1 year

Uma is a Rottweiler female born in January 2025. She came to us after being seized. Fortunately, Uma's life was noticed. She was tied to a pole in the garden where she tried to avoid attention as much as possible... Character Uma has a friendly and gentle character! After her past, it's almost unbelievable. She must have had a good start as a little puppy, because she still loves people! Uma likes to be close to you and enjoys company. Being alone is a challenge for her (not surprising...). She walks well, but can be very strong. She prefers to keep other dogs at a distance. She is very trainable and distractible. She is still in her puberty and needs guidance in this. Placement Uma is looking for a home where she can spend a lot of time. Cuddling is her top priority! We are therefore looking for a home where she can live in the house. Being alone must be built up, so she is looking for motivated candidates. We notice that she likes all the attention for herself. Therefore, she is looking for a home as a single dog. A home with a well-fenced garden is a must. Here she can run free at times. Due to her gentle character, she can also be placed with children. Children who are used to this type of dog and who can also handle it properly.

AchtergrondDeze superlieve brok is Uma.

About Uma

What life with Uma looks like

Uma is a small young adult rottweiler dog waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden in Sint-Truiden.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Uma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Uma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Uma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Uma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Uma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Uma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Truiden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Uma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
