Die Zebrastreifen-Gang

Unknown · Young · 1 year

Our six Zebra Danios are a lively bunch and are looking for a suitable home together. With their distinctive longitudinal stripes and tireless swimming enthusiasm, they bring a lot of movement into the aquarium. Zebra Danios are very social schooling fish. Six animals are merely the minimum - in their new home, our Striped Express should therefore be supplemented with additional conspecifics if possible. In a larger group of about ten animals, the fish can better live out their natural behavior and feel safer. Since Zebra Danios are extremely active and enduring swimmers, they need a long, spacious aquarium with plenty of free swimming space. For a larger group, we recommend a tank length of at least 90 to 100 centimeters. Planting on the sides and in the background provides protection, while the middle area should remain free. Because the agile fish can also jump, the aquarium must be well covered. Zebra Danios feel comfortable at cooler temperatures of around 18 to 24 °C. The water should be clean, well filtered and preferably slightly moving. Regular partial water changes and stable water values are particularly important for their health. The small omnivores accept fine flake or granulate food. They also enjoy small frozen or live food as a supplement. Due to their peaceful but very lively nature, they are suitable for a community aquarium with robust, peaceful fish that prefer similar water values. Very calm or long-finned roommates may feel disturbed by their lively activity, however. We are looking for aquarists who can provide a suitable home for the six friends together and can ideally enlarge the school.

About Die Zebrastreifen-Gang

What life with Die Zebrastreifen-Gang looks like

Die Zebrastreifen-Gang is a large young adult animal waiting at Tierheim Linz in Linz.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Die Zebrastreifen-Gang far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Die Zebrastreifen-Gang, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Die Zebrastreifen-Gang?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Linz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Die Zebrastreifen-Gang on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Die Zebrastreifen-Gang if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Linz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Die Zebrastreifen-Gang already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Die Zebrastreifen-Gang isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Linz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Die Zebrastreifen-Gang and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
