Uncle Fester is an 11-year-old Podenco. He is young at heart and full of love. He was rescued from a perrera (death station) and has lived in a home environment with a kind employee of the shelter for three months, where he could get used to living in a house and living with other dogs. During that time, we noticed that Fester gets along well with females, as long as they respect his personal space - especially when he is sleeping or resting. However, he cannot live with males; that is also the reason why he is now in the shelter. Fester is a wonderful dog to walk with. He walks nicely on a leash and enjoys jogging, sniffing and exploring the surroundings. Like many Podencos, he has a hunting instinct and can react when he sees prey such as rabbits. However, Fester really comes alive in contact with people. He loves people, loves cuddles and is incredibly sweet, gentle and affectionate. He has also met older children and got along very well with them. Fester loves his toy balls and cuddles, and he has discovered how nice the comfort of a home can be. As an older gentleman, he would feel right at home in both an apartment and a house with a smaller garden, as long as he gets his daily walks and plenty of love. He can sometimes be startled by unexpected touches, especially if he doesn't realize that someone wants to touch him, and he can still feel a bit uncertain when putting on his harness. However, with patience and a gentle approach, he learns to trust these new experiences. Fester is a special, old soul: sweet, gentle, affectionate and playful. He has so much love to give and deserves a quiet home where he can enjoy his old age, surrounded by people who love him.

Hij is gered uit een perrera (dodingsstation) en heeft drie maanden bij een lieve medewerkster van het asiel in een huiselijke omgeving gewoond, waar hij kon wennen aan het leven in huis en aan het samenleven met andere honden.In die tijd hebben we gemerkt dat Fester prima kan opschieten met teefjes, zolang zij zijn persoonlijke ruimte respecteren – vooral wanneer hij slaapt of rust. Hij kan echter niet samenleven met reuen; dat is ook de reden waarom hij nu in het asiel verblijft.Fester is een heerlijke hond om mee te wandelen. Hij loopt netjes aan de lijn en geniet ervan om lekker mee te dribbelen, te snuffelen en de omgeving te verkennen. Zoals veel Podenco's heeft hij een jachtinstinct en kan hij reageren wanneer hij prooien zoals konijnen ziet.Maar Fester bloeit pas echt op in het contact met mensen. Hij is dol op mensen, houdt van knuffels en is ontzettend lief, zachtaardig en aanhankelijk. Hij heeft ook al kennisgemaakt met oudere kinderen en ging heel lief met hen om.Fester is gek op zijn speelgoedballetjes en knuffels, en hij heeft ontdekt hoe fijn het comfort van een thuis kan zijn. Als oudere heer zou hij zich prima thuis voelen in zowel een appartement als een huis met een kleinere tuin, zolang hij maar zijn dagelijkse wandelingen krijgt en volop liefde ontvangt.Hij kan soms schrikken van onverwachte aanrakingen, vooral als hij niet doorheeft dat iemand hem wil aanraken, en hij kan zich nog wat onzeker voelen bij het omdoen van zijn tuigje. Met geduld en een zachte aanpak leert hij echter om op deze nieuwe ervaringen te vertrouwen.Fester is echt een bijzondere, oude ziel: lief, zachtaardig, aanhankelijk en speels. Hij heeft zoveel liefde te geven en verdient een rustig thuis waar hij van zijn oude dag kan genieten, omringd door mensen die dol op hem zijn.
